Some weddings are extra special, and Steff and Claudia's was certainly one of them.

I first met these two a couple of years ago while photographing another wedding. We got chatting throughout the day, and little did I know that they'd remember me when it came time to plan their own wedding. Being asked to photograph such an important day after meeting as a guest at another wedding is one of the biggest compliments I can receive as a photographer. It reminds me just how important it is to make every couple—and everyone attending—feel relaxed and welcome.

Their wedding at Houchins was everything a summer celebration should be... apart from perhaps the temperature! To say it was hot would be an understatement. It was one of those days where everyone was searching for shade, cold drinks and a little breeze. Thankfully, the incredible team at Houchins, together with Coggeshall Catering Company, kept guests well looked after throughout the day, ensuring everyone stayed refreshed while enjoying every moment.

One of the biggest advantages of summer weddings is the long evenings.

Rather than heading out for couple portraits during the hottest part of the afternoon, Steff and Claudia made the perfect decision—we waited until later in the day when the temperatures had dropped and the light became softer.

It made such a difference.

Golden evening light creates beautiful, natural skin tones and adds warmth to every photograph. More importantly, it gave the couple a chance to enjoy the drinks reception, spend time with family and friends, and fully immerse themselves in the celebrations before taking a short walk together for some relaxed portraits.

The results speak for themselves. They absolutely nailed it.
