Eloise & Julian's Braintree Town Hall Wedding | Essex Wedding Photographer

September 13, 2026

What a wedding! WHAT. A. WEDDING!

There are some weddings where you arrive with your camera, spend the day doing what you love, and leave thinking, “Yep… that was a bloody good day.”

Eloise and Julian’s wedding was definitely one of those days.

From the excitement and nerves at the family home, to their ceremony at Braintree Town Hall, followed by more celebrations back at home, their wedding was full of the things I love most about photographing weddings — genuine moments, laughter, plenty of personality and, of course, some rather lovely opportunities for creative wedding photography.

And yes, I took quite a few photos. Shocking, I know.

A Wedding That Felt Personal From the Start

One of my favourite things about photographing weddings is that no two are ever quite the same.

Eloise and Julian's day wasn't about following a rigid list of wedding traditions simply because that's what you're "supposed" to do. It was about spending time with the people they love, enjoying the day and celebrating together.

We started at the family home, capturing those little moments before heading into Braintree for the ceremony.

Those preparations and pre-ceremony moments are often where some of the most genuine photographs happen. The excitement, the nerves, the laughter and the occasional "Where the hell is that?" moment all help tell the story of the day.

That's why I always encourage couples to allow a little breathing room in their wedding photography timeline. You don't need every minute of the day scheduled around photographs.

Some of the best wedding photos happen when nobody is actually thinking about the camera.

Braintree Town Hall Wedding Photography

Then it was time for the ceremony at Braintree Town Hall.

There's something special about photographing weddings in familiar local surroundings. As an Essex wedding photographer, I’m lucky enough to photograph weddings across the county, and Braintree Town Hall is particularly convenient for couples who want a town-centre ceremony followed by celebrations somewhere more personal.

For Eloise and Julian, the ceremony was the heart of the day — but it was only part of the story.

Once the formalities were over, it was back to the family home to continue the celebrations.

And that's where the day really started to relax.

Making the Most of Your Wedding Photos

One piece of advice I give couples is simple:

Don't spend your entire wedding day having your photograph taken.

Seriously.

You're getting married. You've spent months — sometimes years — planning this day. You should actually enjoy it.

My approach to wedding photography is to capture the important moments without making you feel like you're constantly performing for the camera.

Of course, we'll make time for some beautiful couple portraits and those unique wedding photos that you're going to want hanging on the wall.

But we'll also capture the stuff that happens in between.

The hugs.

The laughter.

The ridiculous dance moves.

The little looks between you and your partner.

The people you haven't seen for years.

The moments you didn't even realise were happening.

That's what turns a collection of wedding photographs into a story.

Creative Wedding Photography With a Bit of Personality

If you're looking for traditional wedding photography where everyone stands perfectly still, smiles politely and looks directly at the camera for approximately 47 photographs in a row…

I'm probably not your man.

I much prefer giving couples a little direction and then letting them be themselves.

We'll have a laugh. We'll move around. We'll create something a little different. And yes, there will probably be some ridiculousness involved.

My aim is to create creative wedding photography that still looks like you.

I love dramatic lighting, evening portraits, flash photography, black and white images and those slightly different photographs that make you stop scrolling and think:

"Oh… that's bloody cool."

And while I obviously want to create the big hero images, I'm equally interested in all the little photographs that tell the story of your wedding day.

A Few Sneaky Peeks From Eloise & Julian's Wedding

The photographs below are just a small selection from their day.

These are only the sneaky peeks — the full collection tells a much bigger story.

Photographing Weddings Across Essex

Although I'm based in Braintree, I photograph weddings across Essex and throughout the UK.

From town halls and intimate ceremonies to barns, country houses and full-on wedding celebrations, I love photographing couples who want something a little different.

If you're planning a wedding in Braintree, Essex, and you're looking for creative, relaxed and personality-filled wedding photography, I'd love to hear from you.

Because if your wedding is anything like Eloise and Julian's, we're probably going to have a bloody brilliant day.

No awkward sales pitch. No pressure. Just a chance to talk about your plans, your ideas and whether I'm the right photographer for you.

And if you're after stiff, formal photographs of everyone staring at the camera…

Well, there are plenty of other photographers available.

If you want creative wedding photography, unique wedding photos, plenty of fun and a photographer who isn't afraid of a bit of banter, then give me a shout.

I'd bloody love to hear from you.
