What a way to kick off an incredibly busy week of weddings!

Katie and Cal's wedding at the stunning Gosfield Hall was the perfect start to an action-packed few days. The weather certainly turned up for the occasion—if anything, "hot" doesn't quite do it justice! Despite the soaring temperatures, these two embraced every second of their wedding day, surrounded by their closest family and friends, with smiles that never left their faces.

As an Essex wedding photographer, days like this remind me why I love what I do. Every wedding has its own unique story, and Katie and Cal's was filled with laughter, emotion and genuine moments that deserved to be captured naturally.

A Relaxed Start to the Morning

The day began at Katie's family home, where bridal preparations were already in full swing.

There’s something special about photographing the morning preparations in a familiar setting. Family members were busy helping with the finishing touches, excitement filled every room, and there was a wonderful mix of anticipation and calm before everyone headed to Gosfield Hall.

Before leaving, we took advantage of the beautiful natural light around the house to capture some elegant bridal portraits. These quieter moments before the ceremony often become some of a bride's favourite photographs, giving them a chance to pause and enjoy the excitement before the celebrations truly begin.

From its grand Georgian architecture and sweeping staircase to the beautifully maintained gardens, every part of the venue offers incredible opportunities for creative wedding photography. Longer daylight hours mean more time outside with your guests, colourful gardens provide vibrant backdrops, and the famous Golden Hour creates soft, flattering light that's perfect for romantic couple portraits.

One of my biggest tips for couples planning a summer wedding is to set aside just 15-20 minutes during the evening for portraits. It doesn't take long, and those few minutes often produce some of the most breathtaking images of the entire day while allowing you to spend the majority of your time celebrating with family and friends.
